Meri Toksave is a youth led, non-for-profit initiative that aims to address gender based violence in Papua New Guinea. Meri Toksave (“information for women” loosely translated in Tok Pisin) aims at tackling the issue through improving information accessibility of emergency services and support referral systems for victims. Further it endeavours to empower women and engage with men to overcome the attitudes and stigmas surrounding violence. Partnering with local NGOs, the team will create and disseminate messages in rural areas that raise awareness of existing channels for reporting violence against women and also promote an end to violence against women.
