BIO

Jessica Roberts began her passion for human rights advocacy and social equality in her hometown of San Diego, California. In high school, she created a club dedicated to fostering a safe space for atheists and religious students to meet and discuss their varying ideologies without judgment. She was also heavily active in the campaign to legalize gay marriage in 2008. After graduation, Jessica moved on to Tulane University where she joined Amnesty International. Through Amnesty, she has rallied for Medicaid expansion, protested for justice for the Angola 3, and helped organize speakers dedicated to educating the student body on worldwide human rights violations. She is currently the LGBTQIA+ Campaign Coordinator for Amnesty on her campus, and plans to continue her work in this field. Jessica is studying Gender and Sexuality Studies, with a minor in sociology, and plans to graduate in 2015.
