Mekdes is an Ethiopian studying agricultural science at EARTH University in Costa Rica. As a MasterCard Foundation scholar, she is committed to making a positive impact in the agricultural sector. Mekdes is a co-founder of Eshet, a social venture dedicated to empowering smallholder farmers in Ethiopia. Eshet aims to provide farmers with access to training, agricultural inputs, and market opportunities. Currently, she serves as the communication lead at Eshet. 

Mekdes deeply participates in recognizing social issues and utilizing entrepreneurial principles to drive social change. Her interests lie in empowering smallholder farmers, promoting gender equality, empowering the younger generation, and fostering social entrepreneurship. As a member of the Resolution Project, she hopes to develop her social impact talents further and obtain significant life experience. Mekdes is eager to work with others who share her views of her and to help address important societal issues.
