Gabrielle Wimer received her BA in the History, Philosophy, and Social Study of Science and Medicine from the University of Chicago with a minor in Human Rights in June 2016. As a student she served as a researcher in the Department of General Internal Medicine and as a researcher for a project looking at the health of refugees in Jordan and Italy. She also directed the student group Chicago Health Solutions, which organizes annual community health and global health case competitions for students. Her interest in medicine and global health grew during a 3-month internship in Kigali, Rwanda during the summer of 2015, where she saw problems of malnutrition first hand. These experiences are what inspired her to start MealFlour with Elizabeth Frank and Joyce Lu in the fall of 2015.
