Natalie will launch a project in a remote village in Kenya where she is from, teaching sewing skills and subsistence crop farming to women. She engaged in participatory development on her winter break and provisionally signed up 30 women, receiving a huge outpouring of support and openness from her village that included a building to use as the training space. The women trained in this program will sew new school uniforms, which are in constant demand, setting up a sustainable revenue stream, and between this and the farming activities will create economically sustainable empowerment in this community, in a scalable model. Recently, the venture reported that it has been able to equip 80 women with sewing skills and now has a loyal customer base of 8 schools.
