Charlene Chen has over 15 years of private sector and social sector experience working with a variety of organizations ranging from internet startups to international non-profits to Fortune 500 companies. She began her career as an IT consultant at Deloitte Consulting, but during business school made a career shift to focus on social entrepreneurship in sub-Saharan Africa. Charlene spent 10 years working in Kenya first as the Head of Marketing and Innovation at a non-profit social enterprise called KickStart International, and then as Co-Founder/COO of a pan-African cross-border payments company called BitPesa (now AZA Finance). She now serves as the Co-Founder of Operations Nation and Board Member of AZA Finance and BuildX. Charlene has an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California – Berkeley and a B.S. in Psychology and Computer Science from Duke University.
