Camilo Varela is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Second Horizon Capital, an impact real estate investment fund focused on creating sustainable redevelopment opportunities across the United States. Prior to funding Second Horizon, Camilo was a Managing Director in the Investments group at Equity International where he was responsible for origination, deal execution and portfolio management across Asia and Latin American focused on logistics, telecommunication, and technology infrastructure investments. Previously, Camilo held positions at Balyasny Asset Management where he helped run the Global Real Estate long-short strategy, and Bank of America Merrill Lynch where he was an Investment Banking professional in the Real Estate, Gaming and Lodging group. He also held positions at JLL, Lend Lease, and J.H. Findorff and Son. Camilo started his career in infrastructure and heavy construction in Colombia. Camilo holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he was a Toigo Fellow and a Rath Foundation Scholar, an MEng from Cornell University in Engineering Management, and a BSc in Civil Engineering from the Universidad de los Andes (Bogota, Colombia).
