Waste to the Dump

BIO

Angelica Ortiz and Cristina Ramirez received their Resolution Fellowships for the project ‘Waste to the Dump,’ which they co-founded with fellow Central University of Venezuela student, Rita Sleiman. The project aimed to create a cleaner and healthier Venezuela by raising awareness about public garbage collection resources and discouraging littering. Partnering initially with Central University of Venezuela, the Fellows launched a creative information campaign on the consequences of litter and garbage mismanagement. Their campaign included workshops and interactive activities that taught hundreds of youth about how to relocate waste, reuse garbage, and limit land pollution.

Inspired by her work with Waste to the Dump, Angelica is pursuing a masters degree in Intercultural Studies while based in Chicago. Cristina currently leads social programs as part of the Directorate of Social Development at City Hall in Sucre, Venezuela.
