After spending time in Belize, Kelley returned to America moved by the plight of special education children in Belize City. These children are often schooled at home, if at all, or in schools manifestly unable to produce customized curriculum for them. Kelley joined forces with the (twin!) Lin brothers, who study special education, and secured support from her mother’s special education clinic to launch Project Bridge. The venture will connect the teachers of about 50 disabled children in Corozal, Belize to special education experts in America. These experts will create lesson plans and hold a workshop for the teachers in Belize, who already have expressed strong interest in this specialized programming. Then, with this training and curriculum in hand, the teachers in Belize will themselves provide direct support to the children in need.
