This team constructed a 60m^3 bio-latrine digester at a refugee camp in Mpaka, Swaziland, providing skills training, employment, waste management, and renewable energy for this 400-person community. This project frees local women and children from firewood searching and harmful wood-burning, with educational, agricultural, health and sanitation benefits for all. The refugees trained to be biogas technicians will oversee the maintenance of the bio-latrine whilst also being key members of the scaling of the project in Swaziland.
