Resolution Fellows Alex Merkovic-Orenstein and Nick Fiore were awarded Resolution Fellowships for “IT Empowerment in Rwanda” in 2009.  As co-founders of the Global Peace Exchange, Alex and Nick had previously spent time in Rwanda helping break ground on a computer lab at a primary school and conceived IT Empowerment as a means of providing low-cost IT solutions to primary schools.  For their pilot project, they partnered with the Bukomero Primary School and the Marist Brothers of Byimana to outfit a computer lab that provides free IT training to hundreds of students. In addition to being a Resolution Fellow, Alex is a Truman Scholar and Fulbright-Clinton Fellow. He is currently a senior consultant with From Access To Equality (FATE) Consulting in Rwanda. Nick is a Lecturer in Florida State University’s International Affairs department. He is currently the Quality Assurance Analyst at Boston Senior Home Care and lives in Somerville, Massachusetts. Nick and Alex have also joined Resolution’s team as Guides for new generations of Resolution Fellows, and Nick has joined Resolution’s Leadership Council.
