BIO

Hearts For The Homeless Orlando is developing a new hypertension-screening program for the homeless community in Orlando, FL. It partners with local food shares and free healthcare clinics to help reduce incidence of hypertension and cardiac diseases in this underserved community. In addition, this initiative aims to promote awareness for this population by creating needed volunteer opportunities for university students. Recently, Hearts for the Homeless reported that it has screened over 300 homeless individuals for blood pressure in less than two years (surpassing its goal by over a year), prompting many of these individuals to ask further questions about their health or seek help directly from our partnered clinics. Additionally, the venture has successfully opened up partner clinics in Gainesville, Tampa, and Tallahassee.
