BIO

Lamia Bazir is dedicated to democratization and public affairs in her home country of Morocco and was awarded a Resolution Fellowship for her program ‘Empowering Women in the Atlas’. With her partner, Taylor Strosnider, this innovative venture is helping the population of a small village of the Middle Atlas to improve their conditions of life. This will be accomplished by empowering women through the construction of a women-run bathhouse ‘hammam’ to improve access to bathing, while also creating economic and social options for women beyond their own households. Lamia currently lives in New York city, where she is enrolled in a Master’s in International Affairs in the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) at Columbia University. Taylor is a recent graduate of George Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. A current student at the Michigan State University College of Law, Taylor hopes to one day enter the legal field as a JAG officer in the U.S. Army.
