Valeria, a student in Venezuela, set out to create a program to empower young leaders in Petare, one of the largest slums in Latin America. However, like a true entrepreneur, she soon realized that there were actually dozens of organizations providing programming along those lines, but no coordination, cross-pollination, or force-multiplication between these peer groups. Therefore, her venture will be an alliance network that connects and convenes nonprofits around Petare to meet and coordinate around the services they provide in the barrio to serve the community more efficiently. Through a website and a conference, she will be encouraging the exchange of information and improving social services to the community. Valeria prepared for the SVC by meeting with our very own Carlos Garcia, one of the first five Fellows!
