Connecting Children is bringing the technical and physical infrastructure that schools in rural Costa Rica need to empower their teachers and benefit their students. Connecting Children has already begun outreach informally to the national power utility and a large foundation to bring power and data service to several schools. The team has also secured commitments from several restaurant chains and hotels to donate furniture. Ultimately, the Venture will also connect these schools to proven non-profits like One Laptop Per Child, which require the power and data they are supplying to be effective. This is a scalable partnership model that can change schools across Costa Rica and perhaps beyond. Recently, the venture reported that after having to rebuild from scratch after having been devastated by Hurricanes Otto and Nate, within 6 months it was able to have schools running again with the help of its community members.
