Michelle Modest is an investor at Alpha Partners, a venture capital firm based out of New York City with a generalist mandate. Previously, Michelle was a doctoral student and Antarctic Whale Scientist through UCSC, the Palmer Station Long Term Ecological Research Project, and the US Antarctic Program, where she looked at the migratory pathways and behaviors of humpback whales in the Antarctic. Prior to this, Michelle completed her Masters in Conservation Science at Imperial College London, focusing on the effects of naval sonar on Risso’s Dolphin Behavior. In her past life as a film major at Yale University, she also amassed experience in the film and fashion industries. Michelle is deeply passionate about mental health, and is endlessly enthused by all things music, animals (particularly equestrian pursuits), and books (fantasy, philosophy, and psychology being the favorites).
