May 28, 2025—Manila, Philippines—Six young social entrepreneurs representing four social ventures have been selected as winners of the 2025 Harvard World Model United Nations (WorldMUN). Since its inception 33 years ago, WorldMUN has been venturing to a different city every year with the goal of fostering authentic cross-cultural connections. Resolution Project has a long history with WorldMUN, having premiered its first ever Social Venture Challenge (SVC) at the 2008 WorldMUN in Puebla, Mexico. Every year since then, the SVC at WorldMUN has identified exceptional young social entrepreneurs who are transforming their communities and provided them with the opportunity to receive funding and mentorship through a Resolution Fellowship.
The SVC at WorldMUN aims to embody the “WorldMUN spirit,” i.e., “a guiding principle that encourages friendship and cooperation across borders, along with a deeper understanding of cultures and perspectives beyond one’s own.”
Capturing the “WorldMUN spirit,” Anukalp Chaturvedi, representing Sakhi from India, said, “Winning the WorldMUN competition is a powerful validation of Sakhi’s mission to provide sustainable menstrual health solutions to underserved communities. This recognition from the Resolution Project affirms our efforts to empower women by creating affordable, eco-friendly cloth pads, which reduce costs by 75-80% and prevent approximately 100,000 plastic bags from entering landfills by the end of our first year. With this win fueling my vision, I am inspired to scale our impact globally, reaching thousands of women beyond India to foster financial independence and promote safer menstrual practices. This achievement also opens doors to new partnerships, strengthening our efforts to build a sustainable future for women and the environment.”
In the past decade, the SVC at WorldMUN has led to the funding of 72 ventures and has awarded a total of $186,100. The ventures Resolution Project has provided mentorship and funding to have addressed the issue areas of basic needs, development, education, energy and environment, equality and environment, health and wellness, and humanitarian relief.
On being a WorldMUN SVC winner, Sofia Fuentes, representing Bridging Knowledge, Empowering Health from the USA, said, “Winning the WorldMUN Social Venture Challenge has been such an incredible affirmation of the heart behind my project. For me, this win isn’t just about recognition, it’s a reminder that ideas rooted in lived experience and community care matter. My venture was inspired by the stories of immigrant families who navigate complicated systems: healthcare, legal, educational, often without clear language access or resources. To have this idea supported on an international stage means everything to me because it proves that solutions don’t have to be flashy to be meaningful, they just have to be intentional.”
What makes WorldMUN so special every year is its wholehearted belief that young people can change the world.
“Winning the WorldMUN Social Venture Challenge is a vote of confidence in the capacity of the youth to redesign the future. eUGNAY will be a glimpse of this possibility—as we strive to build a more connected, digital future for the Philippines,” said Ancelmo Miguel Catalla, representing eUgnay from the Philippines.
Resolution Project is incredibly honored to support and fund the winners from our WorldMUN SVC every year.
On what it means to be supported by Resolution Project, Siddhi Kulkarni, representing Resonate from India, said, “Ambitious, curious, and innovative are a few words that describe me—and the Resolution Project has given me the chance to channel all three together. Winning at WorldMUN is a powerful validation of Resonate’s mission: to ensure that no silence goes undetected and every child has an equal opportunity, free of barriers. We’re committed to early detection of deafness and spreading awareness about hearing loss—building a future that’s truly inclusive.”
