Tony attends the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering. Originally from Kenya, he has experienced first-hand the challenges of limited access to research opportunities. His venture, the Program for Excellence in African Research (PEAR), empowers African high school students with research skills and mentorship through a summer program and year-round chapters, bridging opportunity gaps and advancing STEM development across the continent. A passionate teacher and Rise Fellow, Tony has taught in Armenia through MIT’s Global Teaching Labs program, attended a selective leadership trip to Los Angeles, and received funding from Emergent Ventures to improve math education in Kenya. Tony is committed to using his education and experiences to build opportunities for others and become an entrepreneur after graduation.
