Otoniel Tomas was born in Sumpango, Guatemala, the eighth child of ten children. He was excited when he started school at the age of eight, encouraged by his mom. He was always involved in school activities, and finished his first six years of school with honors. At the age of sixteen he started to work to pay the high school. After working and studying  for four years he graduated with his high school degree. In 2013 he applied for an opportunity to study in the United States. He received the SEED scholarship, and is currently studying at Northcentral Technical College in business management. In addition to learning English, Otoniel has become involved in Professional Business of America club, Optimist Club, Intervarsity, and is a member of the honor society, Phi Theta Kappa. Otoniel has also been involved in community service.
