Oriana is a 19-year old Economics Student from Caracas, Venezuela. She is as fascinated by the interplay of factors that influence inflation and growth as she is about achieving gender equality. As a passionate activist, Oriana has researched how in an economic crisis, like in Venezuela’s, women are the most vulnerable. Therefore she has manifested her regional activism in different forms: from developing activities in Girl Up for the promotion of sorority and empowerment to engaging with gender-based violence survivors with Chalk Back organization.
Oriana is now ready to launch her venture that will provide comprehensive sexuality education to girls , with the purpose of reducing the rate of teenage pregnancy. She finds this concerning, since this hinders women from productive opportunities to ensure their economic independence, a fundamental achievement in her country’s context.
