Nicol Chinchilla Cordero grew up in La RIbera, small village in Southern Costa Rica. At the age of 17, Nicol attended the United World Colleges in New Mexico. In this two years International Baccalaureate high school Nicol was inspired to study Environmental Studies. Nicol is studying at Earlham College were she is double majoring in Environmental Studies and Business and Non Profit Management. At Earlham, Nicol has taking active leadership roles in issues regarding sustainability, development and Latino/Latin American identity. In Costa Rica, Nicol coordinates a volunteer program for her family’s farm were participants help to make the farm self sustainable. In addition, Nicol works with the Development and Women Associations os La Ribera to build a community center which is essential for the social and economic development of the community.
