Lauryn Mwale is a final year undergraduate from Lusaka, Zambia studying Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh. She has carried out research into access to professional development resources for BAME women in Scotland and the impact of COVID-19 on youth civil society. If you ask her anything, ask for a book recommendation. Lauryn loves reading and talking about the layers of a story and its characters. She is motivated by the example of strong women in positions of influence and is innately curious. She is the founder and CEO of Project Ignite Her, a digital social enterprise that aims to close the gender-STEM gap for black women. Project Ignite Her aims to spotlight young black women in STEM to create role models, run a mentorship program, a digital magazine, and a STEM awareness campaign. All of this is to empower and inspire young black women to reach for the limitless opportunities available to them in STEM fields.
