Lamia Bazir is a 26 year old Moroccan woman who earned a master’s in international affairs from Columbia University in New York and a master’s in international development from Sciences Po Paris. She was also student Valedictorian at Al Akhawayn University, where she obtained a bachelor in International Affairs with a concentration in political science, a minor in women’s studies and a specialization in the MENA region.Lamia was a fellow of the American Association of University Women in Washington DC, and a representative at the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Her experience includes political analysis for the Arab League, consultancy with Transparency International, and field research in Niger.

In 2014, after completing her education, Lamia made the choice to return to her home country. She is both an international cooperation professional and a social entrepreneur. She currently works for the Government of Morocco, on the development of the second compact of Millennium Challenge Corporation. But she is also very active in the public debate both nationally and internationally. Her interest in democratization and public affairs in her country is not new; it has, nonetheless, been substantially sharpened by her involvement in civil society and her social work.

In 2015, she won the United Nations’ Award for Volunteering. She is currently listed among the 60 women leaders of Morocco (by Challenge). She gained her first support from The Resolution Project during her participation in the WMUN 2011. Through her venture “Empowering Women in the Atlas,” she is committed to help the population of the Middle Atlas to improve their conditions of life, by empowering women- who she calls “the key poverty fighters.” From Paris and New York, and now Morocco Lamia is directing the work of the team who is implementing an innovative and inclusive model.
