Babalanda Immaculate is an ambitious fifth-year Veterinary Medicine student at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. As the CEO and founder of Green Grub Revolution, she is at the forefront of addressing the pressing issue of high protein feed costs for livestock, notably pigs and poultry. Her innovative social venture offers a sustainable alternative through the production of Black Soldier Fly Larvae, sourced from readily available organic waste. This approach not only provides an economical protein option for farmers but also promotes environmental sustainability. In addition to her commitment to livestock nutrition, Babalanda’s project is dedicated to empowering local communities by creating job opportunities for women and youth in larvae production. Babalanda Immaculate embodies the essence of social entrepreneurship, blending her academic background with a passion for impactful change, ultimately striving for a more sustainable and equitable food system in Uganda.
