Guaines (Guai), President and Co-Founder of ALMA is a 4th year medical student at Universidad Central de Venezuela, passionate for volunteering and helping drive change forward through innovative and feasible approaches in her surroundings. ALMA was born from understanding the necessity to promote early detection of breast cancer in rural areas of Venezuela through education and telemedicine, being the leading cause of female mortality nation-wide. She does medical volunteering in underserved areas of Venezuela and enjoys any opportunity to help and learn from each experience. All of these moments formed the seed that led to ALMA’s creation with the aim of making tangible change in the incidence and mortality of breast cancer in Venezuela.
