Emmanuela Ilok is currently a Computer Science and Engineering student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is primarily interested in developing machine learning solutions to solve the world’s most pressing problems. In the past she has developed several models to aid the detection of diseases such as cervical cancer and Covid-19. Currently, currently she is working as a machine learning researcher at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence lab to develop graph neural networks to mitigate credit card fraud in banks. For her Resolution project, she founded The Program for Excellence in African Research (PEAR) – a non-profit aimed at developing the culture of research and development amongst African students, by providing hands-on, technical learning opportunities for these students.
