Ashwitha Sankar attends the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she is pursuing a degree in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences with a minor in Public Health. She is the co-founder and project manager of Jila, a social venture that reduces language barriers for Q’anjob’al-speaking immigrants in the Champaign-Urbana area through a mobile app offering educational videos on healthcare, transportation, legal rights, and more. Ashwitha currently works as a Patient Care Technician at a local hospital and will serve as a Sustainability Ambassador on campus, promoting environmental initiatives and sustainable practices. She is passionate about health equity, language access, and sustainability. Ashwitha plans to pursue a career in medicine focused on nonprofit and community health to improve care for underserved populations through accessible solutions.
