Rick is currently an undergraduate student at the University of Miami pursing a B.S. degree in neuroscience and public health. Rick has interacted with special needs children and he wanted to bring that passion to the next level. Therefore, with his team, he started Project Bridge to help provide special needs children in Belize with access to education. Project Bridge will link teachers in Belize to special education teachers in the US to assist the teachers in Belize with creating lesson plans for the special needs children in Belize. In the future, Rick hopes to continue working in this aspect. He is extremely grateful to be a Resolution Fellow and to have the opportunity to carry out this project.

After a short battle with cancer, Rick’s twin brother David passed away on January 7th, 2016. In memory of David, Rick launched a website for people to easily search for the closest hospital libraries/donation sites near them and donate new or gently used books for patients to find the same strength that David found in books.
