BIO

Katharine graduated from Cornell University where she majored in biology with a concentration in marine biology, as well as two minors (1) Environment and Resource Economics and (2) International Development.  She spent over 5 years doing sustainable seafood education and advocacy, as the Founder of GreenCatch, a sustainable seafood educational program for middle school students, and President of the Cornell GreenCatch club.  She also was a sustainability consultant for Cornell Dining and the Statler Hotel, as well as a Sustainability Research Intern for the University.  She interned for an NGO in Sulawesi, Indonesia where she worked on improving communication within their alternative livelihoods program. This experience developed into her Resolution Project Social Venture, Communicate Indonesia.  Eventually she plans to earn a PhD in marine biology. After graduate school, Katharine would like to dedicate her career towards alleviating marine resource inequalities. Focusing on the development sector, she plans to use her scientific background to promote sustainability at the interface between the governments, businesses, public, and researchers so as to ensure accessibility, practicality, and resilience.
