Anderson is from Champerico, Guatemala and studies Quality Technology at St. Louis Community College as part of the Scholarships for Education and Economic Development (SEED) program, funded by USAID and administered by CIED/Georgetown University.  Anderson is training to become a change agent to help improve conditions in his community and country.  He spent his childhood admiring and enjoying the beauty of the marine and coastal ecosystems. He cares about the environment, and he has been an active volunteer in environmental projects such as cleaning beaches and planting trees Anderson is the founder and leader of Casa de Áak, a sea turtle conservation project designed to protectand increase the sea turtle population of his community. He combines his passion for the ocean with his leadership skills and social responsibility to address this pressing global challenge to benefit not only the marine and coastal ecosystems but also the economy of his community through ecotourism.
