BIO

Ishani Premaratne graduated from Harvard College in 2015 with a degree in Medical Anthropology and Global Health and Health Policy, and is now pursuing a career in medicine. Previously she has worked under Dr. Paul Farmer, her senior thesis advisor, in Chiapas, Mexico, where she researched patient engagement and supported physicians staffing the local Partners In Health clinic there. Given her particular interest in global health systems and international development, she also conducted research on doctor-patient communication systems in Tanzania and worked at the World Health Organization’s Headquarters in Geneva during her undergraduate career. She has been recognized by Forbes.com and received Glamour Magazine’s National “Top 10 College Women” award in 2014 in recognition of her work with GrowLanka. Currently, she is working as a research assistant to Chelsea Clinton for her forthcoming book on global health governance.
